Is accounting still a good major?

I spoken to quite a few college kids, interns, and recent graduates. All who I consider to be highly intelligent and smart bight young people. A few key highlights from my conversations: 1. I don't see many very smart people majoring in accounting. 2. Most of these kids from higher educated institutions would never even consider accounting because automation is on the horizon. A few other observations: 1. Due to the financial crisis I believe we saw an influx of talent into accounting cuz it was safe. 2. Many articles consider it would be a top-10 degree. My opinion 1. There is a huge drop-off in talent coming it and all of a sudden it will be hard to find talented accountants. This is unbelievable for many business owners because they've had a surplus of accounting top talent. 2. As automation comes there will just be less have a need for CPAs.
